Developers are converting part of the former Bonaventure Country Club golf course into 125 single-family homes.
The Terra Group of Miami bought 121 acres of the Weston property for $30 million. David Martin, president and chief operating officer, said no date has been set for construction, though he hopes the development will be finished within three years.
The company also has not set price ranges for the homes.
The Terra Group bought the land from the New York-based Chetrit Group and Hollywood developer Ari Pearl. The partners had acquired the west half of the golf course in 2012 after the former owner, Tavor Holdings, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The project is only the latest involving a former golf course in Broward County, where open land is in short supply. In March, Standard Pacific. Corp announced that it was building 105 homes on land that once housed the Raintree golf course in Pembroke Pines.
Martin said each home in the Terra Group’s development will include a wine cellar and smart-home technology that can link all electronic functions, from lights to televisions, to a single device. Homes also will include a garage for at least three cars, as well as an outdoor playground, cabana and barbecue.
“We’re hoping to target families for this development,” Martin said. “We want to attract people to buy these homes who are going to live here for a while.”
