Borderlands 3 Vertical Split Screen: Is It Available?

Borderlands 3 vertical split screen would allow players to join each other in-game on the same machine and enjoy local co-op split along a vertical axis, rather than horizontal. But the option does not appear to exist. Here's everything you need to know:

Wow totally disappointed. Borderlands 3 no vertical split screen.
So much for game nite with my spouse.

Borderlands 3 Vertical Split Screen: Is It Available?

The Borderlands series has always kept co-op as a cornerstone of its feature list, offering it in all of the games in the main series. That co-op has been playable online and offline using split screen in each of those games.

Borderlands 3 offers split screen co-op but, unlike previous games in the series, only horizontal split screen is available. Vertical split screen cannot be enabled.

In horizontal split screen, the screen is divided across a horizontal line, forcing one player to use the top half of the screen and the other to use the bottom. On widescreen TVs and monitors this can create fields of view much wider than they are tall, distorting elements of the user interface such as subtitles.

Vertical split screen is becoming increasingly popular as screens continue to grow wider, as it allows for screens to be divided into something closer to squares.

Developer Gearbox has yet to announce plans for a vertical split screen option in Borderlands 3.
