Brian Scalabrine is a retired professional basketball player from the United States known as the “White Mamba.” He currently works as an analyst for the National Basketball Association’s Boston Celtics (NBA). He also co-hosts “The Starting Lineup,” which airs every weekday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
He grew up in Enumclaw, Washington, and went to Highline College. As a member of the USC Trojans men’s basketball team, Brian was the leading scorer and rebounder. At college, he also played the center position.

He enrolled in Highline College the same year and participated in the Thunderbirds basketball team for the first time that year. On the other hand, he redshirted his sophomore year. During his rookie year at Highline, he averaged 16.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. In addition, he had 17 double-doubles and led the team in rebounding blocks, and free throw percentage (75%).
The squad went 31-1 and won the state junior college title in 1996-97. In addition to being a member of the All-Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Championship Tournament Team in 1997, he was a Northern Division All-Star that year. He transferred to the University of Southern California (USC) in 1998 and was the only player to start all 28 games for the USC Trojans men’s basketball team during his rookie year.

Brian was taken in the second round of the 2001 NBA draft by the New Jersey Nets, who won consecutive NBA championships in his first two seasons. Brian spent four seasons with the franchise before signing with the Boston Celtics in 2005. He and the team won a championship in 2008.
Brian joined the Chicago Bulls the next season and stayed with them until 2012. Throughout his NBA career, he was a backup power forward. In 2013, Mark Jackson announced that Brian will be joining his Golden State Warriors coaching team. The next year, he became an analyst for Celtics games on local Boston broadcasts.
