Can You Plant Turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Since the game's release, players have been wondering if you can plant turnips in Nintendo's Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

It's not a bad question. The stalk market on your island can be a fun and lucrative practice to get into if played the right way. If there was some option to grow your own stalks using the turnips Daisy Mae gives you for a middleman-free profit, there's no doubt it would rake in bells.

Planting Turnips in New Horizons

Sadly, no, you cannot plant turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You may place them on the floor in your house to store them, but that's about it for turnips and the ground. Nothing is going to sprout up from the fruits of your labor, unfortunately.

All players are stuck playing the stalk market through Daisy Mae and her grandmother, sow Joan, in the exact same way. They'll need to wait for the first Sunday after building Nook's Cranny, purchase stalks at an affordable price, and play the market that week through Tommy and Timmy.

There are no growth opportunities involved with this portfolio, we're afraid.

Chances are, you'll probably end up with rotten turnips for your efforts while waiting for them to sprout. Best not to try and trick the market.
