College Sports | Hurricanes land 2025 quarterback prospect Luke Nickel

The Hurricanes picked up their first commitment for their 2025 class on Friday night, and it is a player who could be a class centerpiece.

Georgia quarterback Luke Nickel committed to Miami, announcing his decision on social media.

Nickel is rated a three-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings, and he is listed as the No. 26 quarterback and No. 342 player in the 2025 class. Nickel chose the Hurricanes over offers from Florida State, Penn State and Stanford, among others.

Nickel plays for Milton High in Alpharetta, Georgia. His older brother Jack signed with Michigan State in the 2022 class.

As a sophomore, Nickel threw for 2,507 yards and 24 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He completed 59 percent of his passes. He also ran for 208 yards and three touchdowns. Nickel worked out for the Hurricanes’ coaches at one of their camps, and the staff rated him highly.

Miami currently has one other quarterback committed: 2024 prospect Judd Anderson.
