But for these Vietnamese celebrities, making treasured memories for their nearest and dearest wasn’t enough: their weddings were among the most memorable events for the whole nation.

From reserving an entire five-star resort to buying plane tickets for hundreds of guests and showing off a fleet of the most expensive supercars in the world – how did these super-rich Vietnamese celebs make their nuptials stand out?

Singers Dong Nhi and Ong Cao Thang

After 10 years of courtship, Ong Cao Thang proposed to beautiful singer Dong Nhi in New York, with a two carat Tiffany & Co. diamond wedding ring reportedly worth US$126,000. They held a cosy traditional engagement ceremony at the bride’s house before heading to Phu Quoc Island where they reserved the five-star Vinpearl Resort & Golf for two days for their “wedding of the year, 2019”.

They also booked two flights to bring their guests – dozens of them are A-list Vbiz stars – from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc and brought in two tons of exotic flowers for venue decoration. As the couple said “I do” in a dreamy sunset by the beach, their wedding took the internet by storm with 92 celebrities mentioning #nhithangwedding, 300 related posts, 4.5 million engagement, and 17 million people reached.

Known for his enviable car collection (and his playboy past), it came as no surprise that when he did decide to settle down and get married in 2019, Nguyen also exhibited an extravagant fleet of cars including the Lamborghini Gallardo SE, Lamborghini Huracan, Rolls-Royce Phantom, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Bentley Mulsanne EWB 2018 and more. The bride wore a pair of Jimmy Choo Cinderella wedding shoes adorned with over 7,000 Swarovski crystals, Tiffany & Co. jewellery, and three different wedding gowns designed by famous Vietnamese designers. With the theme of “wonderland temptation”, the wedding venue was decorated like a mysterious rainforest with huge floral compositions and greenery all around.

Actress Tang Thanh Ha and businessman Louis Nguyen

With the most famous and adored actress in Vietnam marrying the son of one of the wealthiest families in Asia, Tang Thanh Ha and Louis Nguyen’s wedding created a huge media hype. Given Tang Thanh Ha’s popularity in showbiz and Louis Nguyen family’s influence (his father, Johnathan Hanh Nguyen is the chairman of Imex Pan Pacific Group which brought Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Rolex and others to Vietnam), the wedding was attended not only by A-list celebrities but also politicians such as former Vietnamese vice-president Truong My Hoa.

For the ceremony, Tang Thanh Ha wore an elegant lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier worth around US$10,000. The couple also took their special day across the sea, celebrating in Vietnam and in the Philippines where part of Louis Nguyen’s family lives.

The fabulous wedding ceremony and extravagant reception for Miss Vietnam Dang Thu Thao and businessman Nguyen Trung Tin were covered extensively by the Vietnamese media due to their high-profile relationship.

After being picked up by the groom in a luxurious convoy of cars, the couple held the formal ceremonies at their families’ houses, followed by a lavish celebration at Gem Centre, the place for VIP events in Vietnam.
