Destiny 2 Void 3.0 guide: All Aspects & Fragments

Bungie is overhauling one of Destiny 2’s original trio of damage classes, so here’s all we know about Destiny 2’s Void 3.0 overhaul, from Aspects and Fragments, to how to unlock them.

The Witch Queen is almost here, and that means there will be a huge amount of content for new players to jump into. Not only are there new exotics to earn and a new Season Pass to complete, but Bungie is also breathing life into one of the franchise’s earlier damage types — Void.

Dubbed Void 3.0, the update will make Destiny’s void subclasses more customizable, and bring them in line with Stasis, the element added in the Beyond Light expansion.

Here’s everything we know about Void 3.0 in Destiny 2 so far.

What is Void 3.0 in Destiny 2?

Void is essentially like harnessing the power of a black hole, particularly gravity. It’s focused around sapping strength from enemies, while also disintegrating them with volatile explosions.

After Void 3.0 arrives, the following buffs and debuffs can be applied (descriptions courtesy of Bungie).

Buff/DebuffExplanation
SuppressThe target is taken out of any active ability when suppressed. While suppressed, the target cannot activate any abilities or movement modes. Combatants are disoriented.
WeakenThe target takes increased damage, has slowed movement, and is disoriented.
VolatileThe target will explode in a Void detonation upon taking additional damage. If the target dies before volatile has taken enough damage to detonate, the detonation happens anyway.
InvisibilityThe player vanishes from sight and does not appear on radar.
OvershieldThe player gains a protective barrier that immediately stacks on top of their existing health and shields and intercepts incoming damage. Overshield reduces the damage taken from PvE combatants.
DevourThe player is immediately restored to full health upon activating devour from any source and is granted grenade energy. When the player gets any kill with devour active, they are restored to full health, granted grenade energy, and their devour buff timer is extended.

If you’re new to Destiny, the other non-Void elements are:

  • Arc – Electricity Damage
  • Solar – Fire Damage
  • Stasis – Ice Damage
  • Kinetic – Standard damage

All Void 3.0 Aspects and Fragments so far

Guardians can customize their void subclass in multiple ways with Void 3.0, and that’s done through Aspects (class-specific) and Fragments (universal) options.

Aspects

ClassAspect nameEffect
HunterStylish ExecutionerDefeating a Void-debuffed target (weakened, suppressed, or volatile) grants invisibility and Truesight. While invisible and after a Stylish Execution, your next melee attack weakens enemies.
HunterTrapper’s AmbushPlayer can activate Quickfall to spend their melee charge and dive to the ground, creating a smoke cloud upon impact. Enemies caught in the cloud are weakened and allies become invisible. In addition, Snare Bombs, upon attaching to surfaces or enemies, cause nearby allies to become invisible.
HunterVanishing StepDodging makes the Hunter invisible.
TitanBastionCasting Barricade generates Overshield for yourself and nearby allies. Those bunkering behind the shield will regenerate Overshield over time and extend the Overshield’s duration.
TitanControlled DemolitionHitting a target with a Void ability or volatile detonation will make them volatile.
TitanOffensive BulwarkWhile you have Overshield or are inside the Ward of Dawn, grenades charge significantly faster and you have increased melee damage. You also gain an additional shield throw for your Sentinel Shield Super.
WarlockChaos AccelerantHold down the grenade button to overcharge your Vortex, Axion Bolt, Scatter, and Magnetic grenades. Magnetic grenades overcharge into Handheld Supernova.
WarlockChild of the Old GodsCast your Rift to summon a Void Soul. When you damage an enemy with your weapon, your Void Soul will launch itself towards them and detonate nearby, attaching draining tendrils that deal damage and weaken the target. When your Void Soul deals damage, it restores either melee and grenade energy (if running Healing Rift), or health (if running Empowering Rift) back to you. Defeating an enemy who is being drained grants Rift energy.
WarlockFeed the VoidDefeat an enemy with a Void ability to activate devour.

How to unlock Void 3.0 Aspects and Fragments

While Stasis Aspects and Fragments for Stasis are unlocked through visiting the Stranger after completing Beyond Light’s campaign, if you’ve played Destiny before, you’ll immediately have access to all Void 3.0 Aspects when The Witch Queen arrives, as well as some Fragments.

You can gain access to more Fragments in exchange for Glimmer by visiting Ikora Rey in the Tower.

New players can get their Aspects and Fragments through the initial New Light experience.
