Graham Taylor Obituary, Graham Taylor Has Passed Away

Graham Taylor Obituary, Death – Graham Taylor was reportedly struck by a bakkie on a bend close to the entrance to the Lake Michelle estate on the Noordhoek Main Road, according to Henry Steyn, another cyclist who was present at the incident. Henry Steyn also stated that Graham Taylor was traveling from Hout Bay to Fish Hoek Beach with five other buddies in order to get some coffee at the time of the tragedy. Mr. Steyn stated that he had been riding in front of Mr. Taylor at the time of the incident and had not seen the bakkie hit him; despite this, he had turned around after hearing the impact. Mr. Taylor was not injured in the collision.

Ken Pollard, one of the other riders, said that the bakkie had collided with Mr. Taylor, continued down the road, and hit a tree following the initial incident with Mr. Taylor. According to Mr. Pollard, the accident site was littered with a large number of people who looked to have sustained serious injuries. These individuals had been riding on the back of the bakkie at the time of the collision. It was necessary for the firefighters to use the jaws of life to free one of the casualties, a woman who had been seated in the passenger seat of the bakkie when the accident occurred.

A number of vehicles that were passing by had stopped to provide aid, and the authorities had arrived at the scene within about 12 minutes. Mr. Taylor had been taken to the Vincent Pallotti hospital by ambulance, but unfortunately he did not survive his injuries and passed dead while he was a patient there. According to Mr. Pollard, both of them were above the age of 70 and were acquainted with one another through their participation in the Hout Bay Yacht Club. He went on to say that they rode their bicycles all around Cape Town two or three times a week, and even though they didn’t ride together all the time, they never cycled by themselves either.
