Diving Beetle Animal Crossing is a new insect that began activity in May. It's somewhat tricky to locate if you don't know where to look, so here's how to find it.
Happy May Day, everyone! As I mentioned yesterday, I'm giving everyone a little gift: a vacation from your island vacation! Take this opportunity to unwind and refresh, hm? Stop by Resident Services between now and May 7th to learn how it all works.

Diving Beetle Animal Crossing: How to Find and Catch It
The diving beetle is actually found in water, skating through rivers like the giant water bug. It will take a pause by the edge of the river, then you can use your net to scoop it out of the water. The diving beetle lives only in freshwater, so you won't find any on the beach.
Since it moves about quickly, your best bet to catch it is to wait for it to come to you rather than chasing it. Note that if you catch a bug out of the water or miss, it will scare any surrounding fish away.
The diving beetle is active from May to September, and is fairly common to find. Just keep an eye out for any large entities moving through your rivers that aren't fish.
Every month new fish and bugs become active, while others go away. As we approach the warmer months in the northern hemisphere, more and more bugs will be available to catch. Be sure to catch all the seasonal critters to keep your Museum up to date!
