How to get Hidden Abilities in Pokemon Sword and Shield
In breeding, Pokemon abilities are passed down between two parents. You can use ability capsules to change the ability of a Pokemon, though it will not give you a hidden ability. Hidden abilities can only be obtained a few ways, and one of them requires a bit of luck. Pokemon caught in Max Raid Battles have a chance to receive a Hidden Ability, though it's unclear how common that is.
Once catching a Pokemon with a Hidden Ability, it is important that it is a female, because you have a 60% chance of passing down that ability in breeding. If you breed with a ditto then it it's 60% no matter the gender. But if not using a Ditto breed, it is imperative that the female parent is the Pokemon carrying the Hidden Ability.
