It’s easy to miss Elden Ring’s Hyetta quest, which is about the blind maiden who waits at the southern edge of Lake Liurnia. The triggers for her to appear are unintuitive, and she never gives a hint to where she’s going next. But if you meet her once, you’ll surely want to see her quest through to the end. Here’s how to find Hyetta in every location, including Bellum Church.

CHAPTER 2: IRINA? NEVER HEARD OF HER
Chapter 1: A weeping maiden
Step 1: Meet Irina
Although the game steers you toward Stormveil Castle at the start, players who explore southward instead of north will find themselves distracted for long hours on the Weeping Peninsula. It’s there, just past the Bridge of Sacrifice in southern Limgrave, that you’ll meet Irina by a roadside site of grace.
Irina informs you that her home, Castle Morne, has been overrun by servants that transformed into beasts, and asks you to deliver a letter to her father, Edgar.
Step 2: Reclaim Castle Morne
To meet Hyetta, you have to deliver Irina’s letter to Edgar, and then defeat the boss of Castle Morne and speak with Edgar again. Follow Polygon’s Castle Morne guide and walkthrough if you’d like a little help.
Edgar will move to Irina’s location, finding her dead. However, that’s far from the end of this story.
Chapter 2: Irina? Never heard of her
Step 3: Meet Hyetta
After Irina’s death, a new NPC appears near the Lake-Facing Cliffs site of grace in southern Liurnia, just past the exit from Stormveil Castle. That character is Hyetta, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Irina.
Given that Hyetta only appears after Irina dies, they look and sound alike, and both are blind, it’s easy to assume that they’re actually the same person. However, Irina’s body never disappears, so it does seem that she’s actually dead. This may be a case of a character “Living in Death,” though Hyetta’s questline also involves a mysterious Outer God named The Frenzied Flame, whose will is enforced by an entity called The Three Fingers, which resides deep below Leyndell, Royal Capital.
Be warned: Because of this, completing Hyetta’s quest will lock you into a certain ending once you complete the game, unless you take extensive steps to skirt your fate.
Whatever the explanation, speak to Hyetta to learn that, despite being blind, she is able to glimpse a guiding light when eating an item called Shabriri Grapes. You’ll need to supply her with one here to continue Hyetta’s quest.
Step 4: Get you some Shabriri Grapes
Depending when in your journey through Elden Ring you’re doing this, you may already have some or all of the grapes you need. If not, here’s where to find them.
- Shabriri Grape 1: In Stormveil Castle, down some stairs and a ladder past Godrick’s throne room, just before the exit into Liurnia, received from a ghost.
- Shabriri Grape 2: In a cellar in the Purified Ruins in eastern Liurnia (look for a false floor you can attack)
- Shabriri Grape 3: After completing Irina’s quest and finding her dead, defeat Edgar the Revenger at the Revenger’s Shack in western Liurnia. He also drops the Banished Knight’s Halberd +8. You can also get this grape by simply killing Edgar at Castle Morne before finding Irina dead.
- Fingerprint Grape: The fourth grape is not a Shabriri Grape, but a Fingerprint Grape. You can loot it from the invader Festering Fingerprint Vyke, who attacks you at the Church of Inhibition in northern Liurnia, just past the Frenzied Flame Village.
Step 5: Feed the hunger
With these delectable grapes in hand, you can progress Hyetta’s quest. Give her one at her first location, near the Lake-Facing Cliffs, and then exhaust her dialogue to receive the As You Wish gesture.
Purified Ruins
Next, meet her back at the Purified Ruins, on the western side near the lake shore, to give her another grape. This time, there’s no reward, besides the warm fuzzy feeling you’ll get from being such a generous friend.
Gate Town Bridge
Third, Hyetta will appear at Gate Town Bridge in the middle of Liurnia, just north of the site of grace. It’s here that you must actually inform Hyetta what she’s been eating. Exhaust her dialogue, and she’ll express disbelief and disgust (if you listen closely as you walk away from her, you can hear her retching). Then reload the area and exhaust her dialogue again.
Bellum Church
Lastly, Hyetta will appear for one final snack at the Bellum Church in northern Liurnia, west of the Church of Inhibition (where you fought Vyke). Here you can give her the Fingerprint Grape, completing this stage of the quest.
Chapter 3: The Frenzied Flame
Step 6: Reach the Frenzied Flame Proscription
Hyetta’s final location is deep underground below Leyndell, Royal Capital. To reach it, you must navigate through the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds until you fight Mohg, the Omen. At the far end of his boss arena is a false wall that leads to a vertical labyrinth filled with frenzied corpses. Navigate downward until you reach the Frenzied Flame Proscription site of grace.
Remove all your armor to open the strange door ahead, and enter it to commune with The Three Fingers. If you’ve followed Hyetta’s questline up to this point, she’ll be waiting for you when you return.
Step 7: A new maiden
Speak to Hyetta for some fairly chilling dialogue, and then touch her with the Frenzied Flame to make her your new Finger Maiden.
Unfortunately, this also kills her once you exhaust her dialogue, leaving you once again Maidenless. Your consolation prize is the Frenzied Flame Seal, which boosts Frenzied Flame incantations, and a single Frenzyflame Stone.
With that, you’ve completed Hyetta’s quest and seen one of Elden Ring’s weirdest subplots through to its conclusion. Now, if you’d like to figure out how to get rid of that pesky Frenzied Flame so you aren’t locked into the chaos ending, you’ll need an item called Miquella’s Needle. Check out our Millicent questline guide to learn how to get it.
