iShine car wash adds a pick-up service

Boca businessman David Risley sat outside iShine Car Wash and Detail, waiting for his SUV to come out.

He didn’t expect to wait long.

“I’ve been a customer since they originally opened and I belong to the club,” said Risley, of Delray Beach. “It’s convenient and what’s nice is you can zip through in 8 or 9 minutes.”

Now, if he needs a longer service, they’ll even drop him off and pick him up within 5 miles of the car wash at 3801 N. Dixie Highway. There’s no extra charge.

After an initial investment of $1.8 million to completely renovate and reopen the car wash last August, the Lallier family kept going.

Now a Smart car with an iShine wrap sits on the tarmac, waiting to chauffeur customers back to their home, office or out to lunch if they have a longer detailing service, said Tish Lallier, speaking for co-owners Mario and Stephan Lallier and their family.

“I use my vehicle as a second home,” she said. “With busy moms you drop your car off.”

“It was always in our plans to offer a concierge service,” Lallier said. “We know a lot of professionals who work in the area. People can call and make an appointment and come in we can take them to Mizner Park or back to work.”

The tour starts with a cappuccino/coffee machine and a suds buster for the children with product information on every window for car wash watchers. “We changed all the brushers to microfiber,” she added.

A separate, covered detailing center sits outside with a machine that exclusively cleans floor mats. “We can take the filthiest car mat, even with sand and get it really clean,” she said.

Building brand loyalty, iShine is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers free wifi and promotions like Wacky Wednesdays, a $3 exterior express car wash, usually $5. “Our customer base includes Delray, West Boca and even Wellington, which was a surprise,” Lallier said.

With black tile floors and matching upholstered leather barrel chairs in the lounge, the family’s determined to bring a high-end and more inviting feel to the premises.

A merchandise wall offers everything from air fresheners to steering wheel covers and custom mats to greeting cards. There’s even a vintage gas pump.

A Boca Raton family business and her sons Josh and Jon and a nephew Craig Lallier work there full time. The manager is Rodrigo Mondelo.

“The customer is king to us,” Lallier said.
