Contrary to the tweet, Janus will not becoming a full-time streamer, but will instead be doing his compulsory military service required by South Korean men of the ages 18-35. Due to health-related issues, Janus will not be doing typical military service but will still be fulfilling the requirement by doing public service.

The South Korean tank was a part of the initial NYXL lineup, which ended up finishing in first-place for the Overwatch League's inaugural season and reaching the semifinals in the playoffs. The team parted ways with Janus in Aug. 2018.

A few weeks later, Janus was signed by the Washington Justice in Sept. 2018. He was released from the Justice in early October alongside Gihyeon "Ado" Chon, Hyeon-woo "Hyeonu" Cho, Hyang-ki "SanSam" Kim prior to the end of the 2019 regular season. The Justice ended the season in 17th place.

According to the Main Tank, military service was not his only reason for deciding to retire from professional Overwatch. On his stream Janus simply says he doesn't want to play Overwatch anymore, saying "there should be no spot for me next year."
