Two separate crashes involving semi-trailer trucks on Interstate 95 in Broward County caused major delays Monday afternoon, one on the northbound lanes of the highway in Deerfield Beach and one on the southbound lanes near Hallandale Beach Boulevard.
Three cars crashed on southbound I-95, south of Hallandale Beach Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m., including a semi-trailer truck which caused 10 gallons of fuel to spill onto the highway, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Lt. Indiana Miranda, an FHP spokesperson, did not know how many people were involved or injured but said in an email that none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Involved in the crash were the semi truck, a Cadillac Escalade and a sedan. Miranda said shortly after 2 p.m. that the left lane and express lanes were closed, and she did not have an estimate on when they would reopen.
Additional details were not released.
A second crash involving a semi was reported shortly after 2 p.m. on northbound I-95 before the Southwest 10th Street exit in Deerfield Beach, according to Florida 511, an online traffic alert resource provided by the Florida Department of Transportation. Two lanes reopened by about 5 p.m.
Miranda did not have information about that second crash.
A live camera feed shared on the platform X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, showed firefighters still at the scene shortly before 4 p.m., working on what appeared to be a charred shipping container.
