New Sombra Voice Line for Overwatch Retribution Tells Story About Her Past

​In the​ latest Overwatch patch that was released Tuesday brought forth the new ​Overwatch Archives event, ​Overwatch Retribution, Sombra was one of many heroes who received new voice lines.

​​One of ​Sombra's new voice lines, "back to la medianoche," is a take on a previously unused Sombra voice line that was datamined long ago and initially meant to be used for her ultimate, ​according to the dataminer: ​¡Volvamos a La Medianoche!

Both voice lines refer to the time during the Omnic Crisis that Mexico's infrastructure was destroyed, which its people call "La Medianoche," or "the night." The nation lost power and Internet access for years.

Either her new voice line, or her old unused one, would be perfect for her ultimate, as she does hack all of the in-range opponents when she activates her ultimate, and literally sends them back to the dark ages before technology for a few seconds.

It's nice that Blizzard has brought in this variation of a previously discarded voice line. The more voice lines the better, and it's always nice to see a little sneak peek into what could have been.

The event features the return of Uprising Brawl, the popular alternate game mode. There's story mode, in which players can play as Tracer, Reinhardt, Mercy or Torbjörn. They essentially replay Tracer's first Overwatch mission through the streets of Kings Row. The mode is also available in "All Heroes" mode.

Eight legendary skins are released in the event. Six skins (though it's unclear how many of them will be legendary) were revealed or released at an earlier time, a list that includes Blackwatch Moira, Scion Hanzo, Soldier 24 Reaper, Talon Sombra, Pyjamei (Pyjama Mei) and Specimen 28 Winston.

The Soldier: 24 Reaper skin was seemingly leaked Tuesday morning via Xbox, and another skin for Lucio was apparently leaked through a trailer for Overwatch Retribution on IGN's website.
