Nikole Hannah Jones is a well-known American investigative journalist. She is well-known in the United States for her reporting on civil rights. Nikole joined The New York Times as a staff writer in April 2015. She is now the Magazine’s domestic correspondent, focusing on racial injustice.
She was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship two years later, in 2017. Nikole was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Commentary in 2020 for her work on The 1619 Project. Nikole is currently the inaugural Knight Chair in Race and Journalism at Howard University’s School of Communications.
Nikole intends to establish the Center for Journalism and Democracy there. Nikole and her sister attended almost all-white schools as part of a voluntary desegregation busing program.
