PARK VISTA HOLDS OFF NEWMAN

Sean Killeen’s three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning wasn’t enough for Cardinal Newman, as Park Vista defeated the Crusaders 8-6 in the Lake Worth Spring Break Tournament on Wednesday.

Killeen’s home run, his sixth of the year, sparked a six-run comeback against the Cobras (9-4), but Newman (9-5) fell just short against relief pitcher Louis Savastano, who picked up the save.

Savastano was the Cobras’ third pitcher in the seventh inning.

“He’s been our go-to guy in tough situations,” Park Vista coach Larry Greenstein said, “And he did a great job against a good team.”

Jonathan Ochocki went 2 for 4 with two RBI for the Cobras, while Justin Dalles was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Park Vista starter Chris Matulis pitched six scoreless innings, striking out seven.

For the Crusaders, catcher Craig Gullickson went 2 for 3.
