It took about 50 firefighters to extinguish the flames that shot through the roof of a nightclub in Pembroke Park.
It happened just after 3 a.m. Saturday at the Playhouse Gentleman’s Club, at 5775 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., said Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael B. Kane.
Crews were faced with heavy smoke and flames burning in the eaves under some decorative molding around the roof. It took about 30 minutes to control the blaze, officials said.
The club’s patrons and employees were evacuated immediately. Once the fire was out, a search of the building revealed everyone either escaped or were helped to safety by firefighters.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, but it does not appear to be suspicious, Kane said.
The club cannot reopen until the roof is fixed and electrical repairs are completed, he added.
