Robert Mizrachi wins second WSOP bracelet

South Floridian Robert Mizrachi picked up his second World Series of Poker championship bracelet over the weekend, earning $147,092 in the first-ever Dealer’s Choice event.

The tournament, which ended Saturday, consisted of 16 variations of poker.

“There’s definitely a lot of pride in winning the event,” he told WSOP officials. “It’s a very skilled event.”

Although it was called “Dealer’s Choice,” the players themselves picked which game to play. So Mizrachi said he picked games he thougth his opponent was weakest in. His head-to-head opponent, Aaron Schaff, often picked Pot-Limit Omaha against Mizrachi.

This was the first year for the new $1,500 Dealer’s Choice event. The tournament allowed the player on the button to choose from one of 16 different games, including some never before spread at the WSOP like Badeucey, Badacey, and Pot Limit Five Card Draw. In fact, Five-Card Draw had not been played in any fashion at the WSOP since 1982, WSOP officials report. There were 419 players who took part in the event. The tournament generated a $565,650 prize pool and paid the top 42 places.

Mizrachi’s first win was in a Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2007. He has 32 career cashes in the WSOP events, dating back to 2003 and pushes him to almost $2 million in career earnings.

Mizrachi’s brother, Michael, “The Grinder,” has three WSOP bracelets and the two other Mizrachi brothers also have won money in WSOP events.
