Rocco’s Tacos opens Wednesday in Boca

Palm Beach County’s second Rocco’s Tacos is set to open at 6 p.m. Wednesday 5250 Town Center Circle, Boca Raton, 561-416-2132.

Rocco Mangel opened the first Rocco’s on Clematis Street in West Palm Beach in December 2007 and was an immediate success.

“What we offer at Rocco’s is a causal Mexican experience where you can get in and out for $9.95 at lunch,” says Mangel.

Along with perfect recession-era prices, Mangel also promises great service.

“It’s not one of these restaurants I see in Florida where it seems like they’re doing you a favor,” he says. “There’s a lot of attitude. I don’t call anyone in my restaurant a customer. I call them a guest. I consider this my house.”

Rocco’s average dinner check is $20-$25, depending on what you drink. Because along with the authentic food, there’s a bar that stocks 250 tequilas, which start at $7 per ounce and go up to $250.

Wednesday’s opening event will feature a limited open bar and samples from the menu. Look too for mariachi band 7-9 p.m. and a DJ all night long.

Mangel owns the two Rocco’s locations along with Grease Burger Bar and the newly-opened Reef Road Restaurant & Rum Bar with Big Time Restaurant Group. Big Time manages while Mangel is the personality in charge of staff, marketing and public relations.
