TownePlace Suites Boynton eyes early February opening

A new TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel is nearing completion in Boynton Beach, the latest in a string of hotels to open in Palm Beach County.

The 116-room hotel at 2450 Quantum Blvd. is slated to open early next month, according to a spokesman for its developer.

“It’s construction, but we’re pushing hard to open — maybe Feb. 1 or Feb. 2,” said Robert Guarini, a partner at North Boynton Beach Hospitality LLLP.

The four-story extended-stay hotel will include studio and one- and two-bedroom suites with full kitchens; a lobby convenience shop for snacks and meals; outdoor pool, fire pit and barbecue area; fitness center; and meeting space for 44 people.

The room rate will also include a free breakfast and on-site parking as well as complimentary Wi-Fi.

The TownePlace Suites sits on 2.77 acres next to the Renaissance Commons shopping plaza, which is at Gateway Boulevard and Congress Avenue. It’s north of Boynton Beach Mall.

The hotel is expected to cater to snowbirds during the winter, business travelers visiting nearby corporate parks and local residents remodeling homes and others moving to the area in need of temporary housing, Guarini said.

The approximately $16 million hotel will boost TownePlace Suites presence in South Florida to six locations.

The chain also has properties in Fort Lauderdale, Weston, Boca Raton, Miami Lakes and Doral, according to its website.

In recent years Boynton — Palm Beach County‘s third-largest city — has seen an increase in retail, office and residential development, which is helping to fuel demand for new hotels, commercial real estate experts say.

A new 92-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites also could open this year after facing construction issues and opposition from its Leisureville neighbors.

As of Monday, the hotel at 2001 W. Ocean Drive was accepting reservations for arrivals on or after Nov. 11, according to Holiday Inn’s reservations website, ihg.com.

In addition to TownePlace Suites in Boynton, Palm Beach County will see several other new hotels this year. They include the 400-room Hilton West Palm Beach next to the Palm Beach Convention Center, opening Jan. 27, and the 200-room Hyatt Place Boca Raton slated to open this summer.

Palm Beach County added 635 hotel rooms from June 2014 to February 2015, and 708 more rooms are under construction for completion between October and March 2017, according to data compiled by Discover The Palm Beaches, the county’s official tourism marketing corporation.

In 2016, the county’s hotel room inventory is projected to reach 17,180 up from 16,212 in 2015, according to the tourism agency.
