GREENACRES — Running back Elie Turene ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns, as Seminole Ridge defeated the John I. Leonard 21-6 in a non-district game.
Turene spearheaded a trio of Seminole Ridge (3-2) running backs that gained 289 yards on the ground and produced three scores.
“We just did our job. We manned up in the second half like coach said and I just kept running hard,” Turene said.
John I. Leonard took an early lead in the game with an Adam Johnson 17-yard touchdown pass to Tavares Martin, but Turene and his teammates would respond.
The senior dashed 76-yards for a touchdown to give the Hawks a 7-6 advantage at halftime.
Fellow running backs Silas Spearman and E.J. Elin continued the power run game to start the second half and added to the lead with a Spearman 1-yard touchdown run.
Turene would score again on a 7-yard run putting the game out of reach.
The victory marked the fourth straight win for the Hawks over the Lancers (4-3)
