The Fighting Game Community has been called a lot of things, but it'll never be accused of not bringing the hype. ESL's King of The Hill Tournament, where talented Street Fighter V players face off against each other in a first to 10 bracket format to determine the current "king" is one of the primary conduits of the hype on a weekly basis.
Recently, the KOTH event has brought us Bryant "Smug" Huggin utterly annihilating both Kenneth "K-Brad" Bradley and Justin Wong, so no further proof is needed when it comes to knowing how fun these events can get.
Smug, the current KOTH, was unavailable to defend his crown this week. Filling in for him this week was arguably the hottest young name in Street Fighter V today, A4 Punk.
Hot off the heels of an impressive run at Red Bull Battle Grounds 2016, and dominant victories at both NEC 2016 and Winter Brawl, Punk is more than worthy of being an interim KOTH.
But before Punk could defend his temporary clown, it had to be determined who would face him. Futile, a strong Laura player from Southern California faced off against Peter "Flash" Susini, one of Florida's stronger talents.
Flash defeated Futile with minimal effort, and then went on to face Punk. You can see the results of both sets below.
Punk soundly defeated Flash -- who tried Urien, Laura, and Ryu to no avail -- and the aftermath was none too friendly!
Punk managed to shed light not only on what he determines to be a limited amount of talent, but also his seedy reputation.
If you noticed from the set, not once did Punk use his notorious main, Karin, in the set. He instead chose to use solely Nash, which birthed the best part of the trash talk.
Ouch! That was some next level burn.
