A man of remarkable accomplishments, Howard’s legacy is marked by his contributions to the carpet machinery industry, his military service, and the enduring love he shared with his late wife, Shirley Lee Satterfield. Howard’s journey began in Dalton, where he graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. Following his education, he proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the spirit of dedication and sacrifice. His commitment to service extended beyond his military years, leaving an indelible mark on his community and the textile/carpet industry.

As the former owner of Tufting Machine Company, Howard Satterfield’s impact on the carpet machinery field was profound. His innovative spirit led to the acquisition of six patents, showcasing his ingenuity and dedication to advancing technology in the textile and carpet industry. Their legacy lives on through their son and daughter-in-law, Ward and Carol Satterfield, as well as their grandchildren, Caleb Satterfield (Nikki) and Josh Satterfield (Roxanna). Funeral services to honor Howard Satterfield’s remarkable life will be held at Eastside Baptist Church on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Dr. Mark Cushman and Reverend Dr. Roger Suggs will officiate the service, creating a space for reflection and remembrance. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Eastside Baptist Church. Following the funeral, a final resting place awaits Howard at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
